Firstly a massive thank you for volunteering to chaperone and be a part of the backstage madness! Each year that BW Dance Works grow, and have bigger and better annual shows, we are so grateful for the parents like yourselves who offer their afternoons and evenings. We really could not do it without you.
Please can I ask for all evening backstage chaperones to arrive 4.45pm.
From 5pm, ALL dancers are to be signed in to designated coloured areas. All P1s will be in a different changing room this year: GALLOWAY SUITS. This is split into 2 groups:
Harris (Orange Group – Roddinglaw Saturday & Sunday P1s)
Ochil (Purple Group – Cramond & Friday Roddinglaw P1s)
All P2-7 Students will be in the ground floor changing rooms (same as the matinee show): LOMOND SUITS. This is split into 3 groups:
Moorfoot (Red Group P2s)
Kilsyth (Yellow Group – P3-4)
Tinto (Blue Group – P5-7)
Once dancers are all inside changing areas, no dancers should leave until 8.30pm (after the show!)
Read registers for info on what dancers do what dances. I have individually listed each dancer and what dance they are in. For the most part, this is class by class and fairly simple but a few students cross over into other branches/classes. If their dance is highlighted, this is a quick change and one of our quick changers will collect their costumes and take to side of stage.
Get all dancers into their first costume as soon as possible, using the running order to work out order of dance order.
CHAPERONE TO DO LIST:
Check dancer’s costume is on the correct way
Check accessories are on the correct way
Hair is in a bun
All baby hairs and flyaways are sprayed/gelled back
No visible underwear
No jewellery
No nail polish
Check shoes are clean
Check ballet shoe ribbons are tucked in
Line dancers up once ready. Our runners Rebecca, Alex and Sarah will come and get your group as and when they are needed to be at the side of the stage.
Lay out 2nd / 3rd costumes and be prepped for a quick change. *Some dancers only do 1 dance*
ALL GROUPS:
After each dance is done, ALL costumes can be put inside the clear bag / boxes at the door.
THEY MUST NOT TAKE COSTUMES HOME
Once all dances are done, all dancers are to be in black leggings, Red Under The Big Top T-Shirts then lined up ready for finale. Again, Rebecca, Sarah or Megan our runners will get you when it’s time.
Dancers can go for their break/ go home in black leggings and Red Under The Big Top T-Shirts.
Dancers are to be signed out at their designated coloured area (same area as drop off.) Please ensure everyone in your group has located a parent at their drop off. There will be 5 pick up points:
RED (P2s)
BLUE (P5-7)
YELLOW (P3-4)
PURPLE (Cramond P1s and Friday P1s Roddinglaw)
& ORANGE (Sat & Sunday Roddinglaw P1s)

Team leaders are there to make decisions should there be any issues with costumes/hair. Group Leaders should be the only ones that do toilet trips with groups of dancers as they have provided either disclosure, PVG or DBS certificates.
