Dear Preschool Parents,
We’re excited to let you know that our dance show will look a little different this year, with a dedicated Preschool-Only performance.
In 2023, we trialled a preschool-only show for the first time. Whilst it was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest dancers to shine, we found that it created quite a stressful environment backstage. Many of our preschoolers are enrolled in multiple classes, and because the show was shorter in duration, this resulted in very quick costume changes. Managing these fast transitions was challenging for dancers and chaperones, and we felt it took away from the overall enjoyment of the experience.
With this in mind, we have adjusted the format for this year’s show.
Each class will now perform one dance only in the preschool performance. If your child attends multiple classes, they will still perform once per class — just one routine for each class they are enrolled in. So lots of our preschoolers will do more than 1 dance, some will do upto 3! This is dependant on their class enrolment.
This change will hopefully:
Reduce the pressure of rushed costume changes
Create a calmer, more positive backstage environment
Allow dancers to feel confident and enjoy their special moment on stage
Make the experience smoother for our wonderful chaperones
Our goal is always to create a joyful, memorable performance experience for our preschool dancers, and we believe this updated format will achieve just that.
